This October 2023, “The American Buffalo: A Film by Ken Burns” will debut on PBS, taking viewers on a journey through more than 10,000 years of North American history and tracing the Buffalo’s evolution and its significance to the people and landscape of the Great Plains.

"Homecoming" Documentary Brings the Story of "The American Buffalo" to the Present
HOMECOMING, a new film directed by Julianna Brannum extends the story of Ken Burns’s upcoming film, THE AMERICAN BUFFALO, to present examining the return of the species to Indigenous lands today. HOMECOMING will premiere on Wednesday, October 18 on PBS and on November 24 on PBS YouTube Channel.

Menominee Buffalo Initiative "Community Harvest" October 6-9
The Menominee Buffalo Initiative in partnership with The Nature Conservancy will be traveling to conduct a traditional harvest at Nachusa Grasslands, a buffalo prairie preserve located in Illinois.
